To say that my latest creation of wedding invitations consumed my life for approximately 6 weeks, would, well, be correct! I was lucky enough to be introduced to this client through a mutual friend and the bride and I hit it off instantly! Together we created something truly special for her intimate Cabo San Lucas wedding this October. The couple sent out amazing save the dates, shipped boxes with a message in a (tequilla) bottle so we certainly could not follow that with just “any ol’ invite” it needed to be a statement piece. During the design meeting we discussed the resort, what the bride and groom wanted to “say” with their invitations and what type of tone they wanted to set. In the end we came up with a beach grass wrapped box invitation that I am sure will delight guests when they receive them in the mail next week.

After researching the venue and discussing the golden daffodil color palette with the bride we decided to accent with aqua color because the ocean against the white sand on the beaches just packs an amazing punch. We also brought in some texture with the beach grass paper. Each box lid was hand wrapped in this paper to give the overall package a luxurious feel. I do believe that was just the added touch this piece needed as it brings together the organic spa feel and the idea of relaxing in wicker chaise lounges and taking in the ocean air. Sounds heavenly!

I can’t wait to bring these details into the onsite decor of the menus, place cards, programs and more. Stay tuned to see how those take shape!

One thing that I love about what I do is that I get the opportunity to share in the excitement with my clients in celebrating their events. The following invitations that I have created are all for dear friends of mine, and my daughter Piper! What a treat!

The Hungriest Birthday

My friend from college celebrated her son’s 1st birthday this month, I can’t believe it has already been one year! Both she and I shared due dates that were with in three days of each other, crazy, right? Well Ian couldn’t wait to come into the world so he arrived 6 weeks early and it’s been a joy to get to know him and watch him grow since then! Mom wanted to celebrate by creating a theme surrounding Eric Carle’s The Hungry Caterpillar which is Ian’s favorite book! Ian loves books so much that mom and dad have reported that they can read up to 15 books to him before they tuck him in for the night. He loves to turn the pages and admire the beautiful colors. This theme was just perfect for him!

Aside from letting the artwork of Carle’s book set this invitation apart, I added pop up graphics in combination with personal photos, bright colors and of course, all the “biting” details.

Look at how the bakery,Jacques Fine European Pastries created a cake surrounding the invitation design, so delish! If you live in New Hampshire or are planning a party or wedding in the New England area, their cakes are amazing and absolutely worth checking out!

Of course what is a perfect invitation followed by? A coordinating thank you card of course!

BYOT: Bring Your Own Tiara!

This invitation was so fun and so girly, I just loved, loved working on these. Even if it required the use of tweezers and possibly me needing glasses with the fine sparkly details:) This princess theme for beautiful Amelia is so fitting, I bet the party favors will be tutus (even for the dads)! Mom even found the most adorable hair clip of a purple crown with pink jewels for the event (the clip is for her daughter, not herself;)

Eat your heart out Kate Middleton, Princess Amelia Kay is here to stay! xoxo

Chic Safari

Another one of my daughter’s friends is turning one, darling Layla! Mom wanted to set the chic safari theme from the get go so we did some feminine and fun patterned filled giraffes to get the party started!

My favorite is the argyle yellow giraffe, preppy little thing!

Thanks to all the families that asked me to help create these invitations to celebrate their little ones. It is such a pleasure to get wrapped up in the excitement with the parents!

I am thrilled to see that the Paper Source has finally added fuchsia to their color palette. It’s such a popular and terrific ‘pop’ color for weddings and special events it’s nice to see that they have jumped on the wagon – finally!

Best,

Welcome to my design blog! I thought I would start out by defining something I’ve been trying to ‘label’ for quite sometime.

Paparista: n, A woman who works with paper to create custom works of communicative art.

I would call myself a paparista, self proclaimed, for my passion is creating with paper. I want to create something you’ve never seen before. I want to create – reinvent – the way (and the care we take) in which we communicate. I specialize in life events. I love to work with people who have something to celebrate. I like to translate their excitement into design that excites others. A wedding, a new addition to a family, a new home, cocktail parties or a simple ‘hello.’ Every single day I check the mail, bill, flyer, direct mail advertisement, bill…you see where I am going. Pre-printed labels or CURRENT RESIDENT call my ‘name’, but my face lights up when I see an envelope hand addressed to me from a friend that wanted to send a long a note or an invitation, they are truly talking to me. I love being able to give people such excitement like invitations or announcements, events to look forward to or a thank you note for a thoughtful gift.

This blog will be a catalog of projects old and new. A place to come to for inspiration and conversation. I welcome constructive comments and ideas on how to improve upon design or execution. I will post photos and how to’s as projects present themselves. We never stop learning and I look forward to learning from you and hopefully inspiring new ideas as well.

Thanks for reading,

Eileen
